St. Patrick's Day at the Spear House

We had a fantastic St. Patrick's Day in 2013. We spent the day as a family with games and movies. We made a delicious vegan menu that turned out great. We had green pea soup, Irish soda bread, colcannon topped Irish stew, corned seitan and cabbage, vegetable pasta salad so yummy!!!  Then the kids watched a children's movie while the adults watched The Boondock Saints which is a tradition in our house. A great night was had by all and we enjoyed the leftovers for the next two days.

New Years 2013 at the Spear house

For New Years this year we did a large spread of yummy foods almost all of which were vegan and delicious! We were still sick so it wasn't as eventful as it usually is but we made the most of it. We watched movies together, twilight and the goonies. Watched videos of the best past new years eve performances, and watched the ball drop via the computer hooked up to the big screen (we don't have cable, over two years now! woot). We had a glass of champagne each and the kids had a glass of sparkling cider. Great night!

Christmas at the Spear house 2012

We arrived home from vacation late Christmas eve with just enough time to wrap presents and get the kids off to bed. It was a crazy hectic night but we pulled it all together and had a wonderful Christmas. Little did we know that the icky feeling Christmas eve would develop into bronchitis and upper respiratory infections for me and Scott, were were downed by the illness for 2 weeks. But if you have to suffer its better to suffer with someone so we made the most of it baking cookies, and playing family board games. The kids were happy to entertain us with their wii games and board games they got for Christmas. May have been 2 weeks of sickness but it was also 2 weeks of non stop family time.
